What is to be a glorious summer of Psychonauts content updates begins with the addition of the w.i.p. enemies section, detailing the game's many foes.
Ryan pulls the venerable Tim Schafer away from the excitement of Psychonauts' impending release for a few seconds, and asks him three brief (read: long) questions about the game and himself.

Psychonauts has gone GOLD!
After what must seem like an eternity to some, Psychonauts has finally reached GOLD status. For those of you are not familiar with the term, it essentially means that the game has reached a state of "ready to be shipped", and a master copy of the game is ready to be sent to duplication facilities where it will be duplicated en masse for the general public to purchase from stores.

The game is still set to ship on April 19th, which means that there's only 11 days left until you will be able to go and buy the game, slot it into your computer, and enjoy what we've all been so confident will be one of the greatest gaming experiences in years. If you haven't already, it's not too late to preorder the game so that you can receive a free bonus along with your purchase. Otherwise, just hang on tight -- it's almost here.

Psychonauts to really hit the mainstream media.
Majesco have just issued out a press release which sheds a little more light on what we can expect to see them doing with regards to marketing Psychonauts. It looks like they will not be holding back at all, with a "multimillion dollar marketing campaign" promised, involving "television, print, online and radio with multiple consumer promotions, a demo tour and street team activities.".

So, it looks like Majesco will be marketing Psychonauts very aggressively. With a "Humorous national TV campaign", a "print campaign in mass-market and gaming enthusiast publications", and lots of actual, physical features in many US cities, it looks like Schafer's latest will truly receive the recognition that it deserves. With a number of very positive reviews already beneath its belt, the future is looking very bright for the brave little psychic that could.

Needless to say, those of you that are in any of the ten focused cities for the campaign will definitely want to try and track down these street teams and get yourselves a piece of the action. You can read the entire press release here, where the activities taking place are explained in a little more depth. Now is also probably a good time to sign up for PsychoPortals if you haven't done so already.

In slightly sadder news, it looks like the PlayStation 2 version has slipped to a relase date of late spring, as confirmed by the quote "Psychonauts is scheduled to ship April 19th for the Xbox(R) video game system from Microsoft and PC, and for the Sony PlayStation(R)2 computer entertainment system in late spring.". Not particularly good news for Playstation 2 owners. Presumably it's down to issues in the porting procedure.

Psychonauts hits the mainstream media hard.
According to a member on the Gaming Age forums, this month's Official Xbox Magazine contains some extremely desirable Psychonauts content within its glossy covers. Not only is there a full review of the game, where it scores an extremely respectable 9.5/10, but there's also a playable demo on the cover disk.

So, those of you that have Xboxes will definitely want to purchase the aforementioned magazine this month. This month's Official Playstation Magazine is also said to have a demo video of Psychonauts, although it'll probably just be an existing video. There has been no word on a PC demo release yet.

New image gallery category.
For those of you that'd like to light up your desktop with some Psychonauts related artwork, a new category has been added to the image gallery which does just that. Inside the desktop wallpapers category you will find two wallpapers which I just whipped up so that it doesn't lie empty.

I fully encourage any of you with some artistic ability to submit some in. The only requirement is that is at least 1024 x 768 pixels, preferably 1280 x 960. To get an idea of how big that actually is, the current examples in there are both 1280 x 960. Users with smaller resolutions can simply use their operating system's "stretch" setting, which will shrink it down to the correct size.

There is a reasonable quality control in effect, of course. It's not too strict since community participation is what this site's all about (thanks to all those who have emailed in with facts and corrections during the site's life, by the way!). However, simply grabbing any old Psychonauts screenshot and throwing it onto a 1024 x 768 spread is obviously something than anyone could do in very little time. Do put some artistic creativity into it.

Anyway, with that lot said, send some in! You can send any images to the contact address, just keep them below about 8mb (although they shouldn't reach anywhere near that, really). On that note, feel free to send in any fan art, if you feel like doing that instead. Once a few pieces have been submitted, there'll be a gallery opened for that too.

Epic competition surprises thousands.
Psycho Portals, Majesco's new website which Mojo mentioned the other day, has opened its doors today. You can now register on the website in preparation for a contest which is scheduled to begin on April 16th, which involves working together with others in your city to solve puzzles.

It looks like a fairly serious affair, with a "36" HDTV, a Dolby 5.1 surround sound system and an Xbox video game console with a copy of Psychonauts!" being offered as the main prize. The site also mentions something possibly Psychonauts-related happening in the actual cities involved in the contest, which could be very exciting for those in the area. Maybe they'll unleash thousands of helium Psychonauts balloons into the sky. Maybe they'll stick gigantic Psychonauts banners up on buildings. Who knows?

Anyway, be sure to at least register for the contest right here. You'll be asked to enter a variety of personal details, but since this is Majesco's site, you have very little to worry about with regards to privacy. The aforementioned site has plenty of details which thoroughly explain how the contest actually works.

Unfortunately though, this contest is a little selective in who it allows to enter. Only those near the US cities listed seem to be eligible, so be make that you're in one of them before you go and get involved. The cities are New York, Chicago, Dallas, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Detroit, San Francisco, Seattle and Atlanta. There'll be another reminder posted in the razputin.net news once the competition actually begins, just case you happen to forget. Okay? Okay.

Psychonauts sequels confirmed.
Those of you who visit Tim Schafer's blog probably know this, but for those that don't, I'll enlighten you. It seems that, following a meeting a few days ago, two sequels for Psychonauts have been contracted to Tim. Seriously. This is quite honestly the first time that I've ever heard of a game receiving such a deal so soon though -- perhaps Majesco are really trying to take the market by brute force.

Anyway, the games probably won't be on our desks anytime soon, as Tim points out in the article, so I'd try and put it to the backs of your minds now. But still, with two sequels to go, we have something to continue being excited about once the original actually comes out! Let's hope that Tim is able to focus as much of his creative energy into the sequels as he seems to have done with the original. Check out his blog right here.

Edit:- This was our utterly hilarious () April Fools joke. Sorry. :~
